In addition to offering clients a full range of litigation services,
SPR assists clients in avoiding and resolving disputes by using various forms
of alternative dispute resolution ("ADR"). SPR lawyers have employed ADR procedures
to resolve various kinds of disputes. SPR lawyers have also designed ADR processes
that were utilized to resolve large scale multi-party environmental disputes.
SPR is committed to employing ADR to bring out about cost effective resolutions for
clients whenever it is feasible to do so.
One of our principals, Pamela Esterman
serves as a trained and certified mediator and serves as a court appointed mediation specialist,
in both state and federal court, for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York,
and the Commercial Division of the New York Supreme Court.
She has over 12 years of experience mediating various kinds of disputes including environmental,
land use, breach of contract, insurance coverage, construction, RICO,
personal injury, and toxic tort claims.
Pamela has written and published numerous articles and a book chapter on the use of ADR in environmental disputes. She is also an adjunct Professor of Law at Pace University Law School where she teaches Environmental Dispute Resolution.
