SPR attorneys recognized in wind energy Top 100 Legal Power List and Best Lawyers in America®

Sive, Paget & Riesel principal Dan Chorost has been ranked in the 2018 edition of A Word About Wind’s Top 100 Legal Power List, which profiles “the most important influential legal professionals currently working within the global wind power market.” The rankings were based on opinions from across the industry and independent research by A Word About Wind, a renewable energy industry intelligence service. The Top 100 list is the service’s “definitive ranking of the lawyers that we believe have made the biggest contribution to shaping the global wind industry in the last year, and with a particular focus on deals and other activity in the last two years.”

This ranking demonstrates significant industry recognition, as only one-third of the ranked lawyers were based in North America. The Legal Power List recognized Dan’s “work[] with wind and solar developers to negotiate the permitting side of complex schemes” and highlighted his efforts with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority on the development of the New York State Offshore Wind Master Plan.

In addition, seven SPR lawyers have been recognized in Best Lawyers in America® 2019, a peer-reviewed ranking of distinguished attorneys in various practice areas. Michael S. Bogin, Mark A. Chertok, Jeffrey B. Gracer, Elizabeth Knauer, David Paget, and Daniel Riesel have been recognized for the practice area of Environmental Law. In addition, Mark, Jeff, David, Dan Riesel, and Kathy have been honored for the practice area of Environmental Litigation. Mark is also recognized for the practice of Land Use and Zoning Law. More SPR attorneys were recognized for the practice of Environmental Law in this edition of Best Lawyers than any other firm in New York.

Mark has also been named Best Lawyers® 2019 Environmental Law “Lawyer of the Year” for the New York, New York region. This distinction is awarded to the attorneys who receive the highest overall feedback from their peers within a particular practice area and geographic location, with only one Lawyer of the Year selected for each practice area and region.

Inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America 2019 is based on “a sophisticated, conscientious, rational, and transparent survey process designed to elicit meaningful and substantive evaluations of the quality of legal services” in order to “capture, as accurately as possible, the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.”
